have had to cancel this weeks run due to the adverse weather. Despite their best efforts, rain means the planned event ‘nurkrap’ will not go ahead.

In a statement released a spokesperson for Beverley Westwood Parkrun said;

“After a second-course inspection in the same day, following this afternoon’s rain we have taken the decision to cancel Beverley Westwood parkrun this week and postpone the reverse route ‘nurkrap’ until later in the year.”

“We’ve had our fingers crossed all week hoping to avoid the rain and it was looking OK up on the Westwood this morning but this afternoon’s rain, although not heavy by recent standards, has left standing water along the entire course.”

“The surface is dangerously slippery and ultimately we feel going ahead would not be in the best interests of the wonderful Westwood Pasture.”

“We would like to apologise to everyone who was looking forward to joining us this week. We hope that by being cautious this weekend it will help the surface recover from the weather in time for next week.”

“In parkrun style please we would like to thank the 30+ volunteers who’d signed up to stage the event, many of whom had contributed to the planning and testing of the nurkrap.”

“Their efforts will stand us in good stead later in the year when it is rescheduled. Please help spread the word to save making an unnecessary trip.”

“On the plus side, you now have the opportunity for some parkrun tourism, if you can find an event that isn’t cancelled!”
