Book Now As East Riding Youth Dance Returns

East Riding Youth Dance will be returning for seven weeks of community dance sessions across the region.

The sessions are set to kick start in October, providing a fantastic opportunity for young people, Year 5 and upwards, to work closely with professional dance artists in a fun, energetic and inspirational environment.

The programme provides a platform for those with little or no experience to try a range of dance styles, including contemporary and urban, whilst developing their creative technique and skills.

The youth dance groups are taking place across six areas of the East Riding to provide local opportunities for all to grab their dancing shoes and get involved:

Bridlington Spa, Bridlington Mondays
Pocklington Arts Centre, Pocklington Mondays
Memorial Hall, Beverley Tuesdays
Community Primary School, Hornsea Tuesdays
Trinity Church, Goole Thursdays
Withernsea High School, Withernsea Thursdays

Dance Artist and Co Project Co-ordinator Dawn Holgate said: “We are so pleased to be back delivering youth dance across the East Riding. This term, as well as working on technical skills, we will be focussing on developing the creative voice of our participants. These skills will allow for developing self-confidence and giving creative ownership back to the participants.”

East Riding Youth Dance is also holding auditions for talented dancers to join the very successful County Company. Members of the company will have exceptional opportunities from creating their own dance work, enhancing their skills and performing to audiences across the region whilst working with some of the country’s top professionals and dance companies.

Auditions are scheduled to take place on Saturday, 5 October at Anlaby Studios, 18-22 Wilson Street, Anlaby HU10 7AN, with sessions continuing there fortnightly on Sundays from 10.15am to 2.15pm.
