Preloved Designer Bags Proving Popular For This Beverley Retailer

Tyler & Black owner Jane Tyler says the introduction of preloved designer bags to her shop has been a huge success.

Based in the St Mary’s Arcade in Beverley, Tyler and Black has been adding to their stock, bring in exclusive items you simply can not buy anywhere else.

Her efforts are helping buck the trend when it comes to the high street trading from Beverley’s only indoor shopping centre.

Speaking to HU17.net Jane said;

“We have always mixed in a bit of vintage with the new stock that we have in the shop.  These are things we pick up while at the auction or on our travels looking for stock for the shop.”

“As I have always like bags I thought why not start buying a few bags for the shop.  Since introducing the bags to the shop the response has been really good.”

“These are not just any old bags. The bags we have are high-end brands including Mulberry, AllSaints and Whistles.  However, this changes as the bags move on very quickly.”  

 “I think they are proving popular as shoppers are becoming savvier. They are not spending as much as they may have done a few years ago. Having a really good bag says a lot about you.”

“People are also much happier these days to buy a preloved bag. Most of the ones we source have never been used. They really are in good condition. Buying bags this way is also a way of getting a good quality thing for not as much money.”

“I had a lady in the shop a week ago. She had seen a picture of one of the bags on our social media channel.  As a result of this, she bought the bag and explained that its hard for her to justify spending on a new bag. However, buying a preloved fitted within her budget.”

Jane has been adapting her business. Not only are the sale of preloved bags going well but the sale of cards is also doing well.

Jane said;

“All the cards I sell are designed by me so unique to us. I am about to start putting them into other outlets. During the gift season, I have the card made into other gifts like cards. All of these are exclusive to me, you will not find them anyplace or even online.”

“I also have artists and people who do crafts who supply the shop with exclusive stock. Currently, I have some really nice items made from salvaged pool tables. Also, I have bespoke jewellery, again things you can not buy anywhere else.”
