Bonfire Night In Beverley To Be Attended By 10,000 People

10,000 people are expected to  Lions annual bonfire and fireworks display this Monday. Here is all the information you need to plan ahead for the night.

Organisers of the event say they are looking forward to the night while urging people to make a donation.

Free to attend, the bonfire and firework display on the Westwood is one of the towns most popular annual events.  People from around the area come to enjoy the family-friendly event.

Club Secretary  hopes people will come along and enjoy the evening which gets underway at 6.45PM.

“We want to encourage people to come along and enjoy what is a safe, family-friendly event,” she said. “While it is free to attend we will be collecting donations on the night to help fund next years display.”

“This year for the first time we will also have limited toilet facilities. These, of course, came at a cost and we have also seen the cost of the fireworks increase by about £800.”

Beverley Westwood Lions have involved local schools in the event. Schools were invited to make a Guy for the bonfire. 

“This year we have two guys that were made by local schools. We have one from Keldmarsh Primary School and one from St Johns Primary School,” she said. “Their guys are excellent you can also see that the children have put a tremendous amount of effort into them.”

During the event road closures will be in place with Westwood Road and also Road both closed from 6PM. Organisers are also advising people that there will no parking available on the Westwood. They are  advising people should use parking in the town centre.

Bonfire Night In Beverley Timings & Information For 2018 Fireworks Display

, Cllr and the President of the Lions Club, Alan Blenkharn will light the bonfire at 6.45PM. While the fireworks are scheduled to begin at 7.30PM 

Members of the Lions would also like to remind people if possible not to bring sparklers to the event. If you do take them to the firework display that you discard in them in bins provided.

Should you get split up then you should make your way to the Beverley FM stand where the Lions will do their best to reunite you.
