A Driffield woman has been presented with her prize after winning a recycling competition at Driffield Show.

Catherine Robson won a home composter after visiting East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s waste and recycling trailer at the event in July.

She was the closest to guessing how many batteries the waste and recycling officers would collect for recycling at the show during the day.

Catherine, who runs the Catch and Empire shop in Middle Street South, was presented with her prize – a worm composter – by waste and recycling officer Karen Wagg.

The composter – complete with worms – is a natural way of recycling organic waste, such as grass cuttings, leaves and vegetable peelings, to make your own compost and fertiliser.

Karen said:

“Catherine was delighted with her prize because she’s always wanted a worm composter, and it’s a great way to recycle at home and help your garden.”

The council’s waste and recycling team visits Driffield Show every year to offer information and advice to local residents.
