Blue… Thursday? Lighting Up The City For The NHS

If you look up on Thursday you may notice that Hull has turned a shade of blue.

To help mark the NHS’s 70th birthday, buildings, historic monuments and other high profile sites across the country will be ‘lighting up’ blue on the evening of Thursday, 5 July.

NHS Hull Clinical Commissioning Group has joined forces with Hull City Council to bathe several of our city’s recognisable monuments in blue light.

These include:
• Fountains in Queen Victoria Square
• Maritime Museum
• City Hall
• Hull Minster
• Solar Gate
• Queen Victoria statue in Queen Victoria Square
• Andrew Marvell statue
• Ferens Art Gallery

People are encouraged to take photos and share them via social media using the hashtags: #NHS70 and #LightUpBlue.

Dr Dan Roper, chair of the CCG, commented:

“It’s going to be brilliant to see Hull bathed in a blue light. This isn’t just a great way to recognise 70 years of the National Health Service, but it’s also a tribute to 70 years of dedication and care from the amazing people who make the NHS what it is.

“We’d like to thank Hull City Council for joining us in Hull for this nationwide celebration.”
