Local MP, Graham Stuart, hailed the achievements of Tickton-based confectionery specialists Creme d’Or as he visited their site on Weel Road.

The firm, which employs thirty in its office and warehouse, was recently made a Northern Powerhouse Export Champion on the back of impressive expansion across international markets.

Graham, who also promotes foreign investment in the UK in his role as a Minister at the Department for International Trade, was given a tour of the Tickton site before speaking to Creme d’Or’s Director David Watkins to discuss their remarkable growth.

The company has been trading since 1991 but only began to explore the possibility of exporting their confectionery and fine foods ranges two years ago. Under Head of Export, Laura Gunderson, the decision has proved a remarkable success, with Creme d’Or now sending its products to North America, Singapore and the Middle East. The firm was also invited to Dubai on a Northern Powerhouse trade mission to Gulfood, the world’s largest annual food event.

Ahead of his visit, Graham said:

“I am delighted to be showing my support for a brilliant local business, founded on local employees and now benefitting from a bold move into emerging markets across the world. The firm thoroughly deserves recognition as a Northern Powerhouse Export Champion and I am confident that it has a bright future ahead.

“As both the local MP for Beverley and Holderness and as an International Trade Minister, I want to encourage more businesses to follow the example set by Creme d’Or. The GREAT campaign has already helped nearly 3 million users to expand their export opportunities, and Creme d’Or show that our area is a perfect place to begin this journey.”

Creme d’Or Director, David Watkins, said:

“We’re pleased to welcome Graham to our expanding business. As the local MP and as Minister for International Trade he promotes local enterprise and helps it flourish. It is an exciting time for Creme d’Or and we are looking forward to another year of growth both at home and abroad.”
