A Mercury Award nominated group are the latest artists to sign-up for Beverley Folk Festival’s 35th anniversary.

Acclaimed indie-folk rockers Turin Brakes will headline the Sunday night concert at this years event.

Performing music from their latest album ‘Invisible Storm’, band founders Olly Knights and Gale Paridjanian, along with longtime bandmates Rob Allum and Eddie Myer, have been acclaimed for their folk-rock vibe that is both inspired and epic.

The group describe this, their eighth studio album, as “big picture music played on a small screen, refracted through lyrics that embrace the personal and the universal, without offering the comfort of easy answers”.

Songwriters is the traditional sense, Olly and Gale bring an artistic understanding to their lyrics, honed from working together as a touring band for 16 years. Critics have heaped praise on their work, describing their songwriting as “consistently beautiful, visceral and unforgivingly emotive.”

Festival programmer Kelly Foley is thrilled to have Turin Brakes scheduled to perform at Beverley Folk Festival for the first time. She said:

“I am delighted that we have been able to book such a great band. They have an enthusiastic and dedicated following, but also appeal to hearing their music for the first time. They guarantee to give us a great performance, that will pack a real punch.”
