Members of have voted for as their charity of the month for February.

Age UK East Riding picked up a prize of £250 which they will  use to help fund their work they do in the community with vulnerable people.

Like all charities, Age UK and its local Age UK network have suffered greatly over the past few years from an adverse economic climate that has seen both public and private sector donations, grants and service contracts reduce significantly.

Commenting on winning the competition, Pam Davies, from the charity expressed her gratitude and also explained the plans the charity has for the future to maximize their resources, she said;

“We would like to thank your customers for choosing and then voting for Age UK. This has come at an ideal time for us as from 1 April 2018, Age UK Hull and Age UK East Riding are to join forces in order to strengthen the support and delivery of services for older people across the whole of East Yorkshire.”

“As with most voluntary sector organisations, we have both identified that we could be much stronger working together and it makes sense for us to unite our organisations in order to be able to both grow and strengthen our offer to older people across both Hull and the East Riding.’

“Both organisations have worked closely for many years helping and assisting older people across the area and collectively, by joining forces they will be better placed to meet the needs of older people.”

“We are very grateful for the support from Beverley Building Society which will help to ensure we continue to help older people in this area.”
