Research Shows Number of Moving House Has Increased

New research has shown that more people moved house in 2017 with property experts pointing to demand and low interests rates as the likely cause.

Figures show an estimated 370,300 moved home which was 2pc up on the previous year however that are still way down on those pre 2007.

Our average house price has increased regionally by around 19 percent in the last 5 years.

Commenting on the news, Tony Wallis from Beercocks Estate Agents in Beverley said;

“It is an encouraging sign given the tougher market conditions post-Brexit there is an increase in the number of home movers and this has no doubt been helped by the lower cost of borrowing.”

“In Beverley our average price of property is around £210,000. During this the last year when the research was done we found that the most popular type of property sold in the area was 4 bedroom detached .”

“Having equity in your home will be a great help for many home movers to take the next step on the property ladder. However perhaps the most important change the market has seen, is the increasing number of first time buyers.”

“More first time buyers entering the market is very encouraging, when you consider the hurdle created by the lack of affordable homes, not just due to the price of a property but also the deposit needed this is an important area of growth.”

“Market uncertainty over the past year may have deterred many from committing to a sale in fear of potential interest rate rises and the brexit situation .”

“The increasing level of first time buyer demand has kept the market ticking over as a result of their aspiration to become homeowners, not their desire to profit in the short term.”

“When thinking about budget for a new home, you’ll also need to think about other costs. One of which being clearing out your old stuff and unwanted junk with kwiksweep and looking into a moving van as well.”

In Beverley First Time Buyers with small budgets can still get on the property ladder for under £100K, Beercocks have range of deals on their web site.
