Wildlife Photographer Of The Year Exhibition Heads Back To Beverley

The hugely popular Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition is set to return to Beverley next summer, news that has been welcomed by the council.

Visitors to Beverley Art Gallery will be able to see 100 acclaimed photographs from all the competition categories, featuring a huge variety of inspiring images.

Councillor Richard Burton, portfolio holder for leisure, tourism and culture, said;

“This is great news! I am absolutely delighted that we have managed to secure the return of this exhibition for 2018.”

“Working with our partners at the Natural History Museum, and featuring all the new winning photographs from the 2017 international competition, which will be on show in Beverley for the first time.”

“The 2017 touring exhibition brought record-breaking numbers of people to The Treasure House – and to Beverley as a whole – and I have no doubt that the new exhibition will prove just as popular.”

Sir Michael Dixon, Director of the Natural History Museum, said;

“Wildlife Photographer of the Year is one of our most successful touring exhibitions, enjoyed by millions of people all over the world.”

“The awarded images shine a spotlight on nature photography as a work of art, whilst raising questions about our crucial role in shaping a sustainable future.”

The exhibition reflects the 53rd year of the competition, which welcomes entries from professional, amateur and young photographers.

For the 53rd competition, the international judging panel of respected wildlife experts reviewed almost 50,000 entries from 92 countries.

The new 2018 exhibition will be on display in Beverley from Saturday, 14 July to Saturday, 8 September, making it an ideal day out for the summer holidays next year.
