will be carrying out major maintenance works on the Hull Bridge Viaduct on the A1035 at Tickton.

The work will start on Monday, 11 December 2017, with a planned completion date of early October, 2018.

Principal engineer Mike Ball explained :

“This work is necessary because the bearings which sit beneath the ends of the concrete support beams of the bridge have reached the end of their working lives. We will be replacing each of the several hundred bearings with a new one.

“In order to do this safely and with the least disruption to road users as possible, we will be constructing a support system beneath the bridge which will allow us to do the work whilst continues to flow above.

“We will do our best to minimise noise and other disruptive aspects of the work as much as possible. We do however ask motorists to bear with us as there will inevitably be times when this will be difficult. This is most likely to happen when we will be doing work during the night for short periods.

“Nearer the time, we will let people know when this work is planned to happen via the media and social media.

“The council would like to apologise for any disruption or delay in advance and we thank motorists for their patience and understanding whilst these essential maintenance works are carried out.”
