Dementia Friendly Film Show White Christmas To Be Shown At Parkway

Irving Berlin`s White Christmas will be screened by popular demand for those people living with dementia their families and carer`s on Thursday 30 November 11.15 am at the Parkway Cinema in Beverley.

The epic film starring Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye and Rosemary Clooney will be shown in full colour on the big screen and includes dementia friendly features.

The Beverley based Dementia Friendly East Riding charity is organising the event and to add to the Christmas theme free mince pies, coffees and teas will be served by cinema staff before the film begins.

a trustee of the charity said;

“We are looking forward to welcoming people from all around the area and particularly those who may be at home with family and friends and who are not able to get out and about as often as they would like.”

“Everyone is welcome, we hope residents are able to join us from local care homes. We have chosen “White Christmas” as easily the most popular choice of film, after consulting with those who have attended the successful cinema club in the last twelve months.”

Recent films have included “Some Like It Hot” and “The Italian Job”.

“The aim is to provide a safe and social environment and enjoy some nostalgia, happy memories and have a laugh,” continued Simon.

The discounted entry price is just £4 per person. Please arrive between 10.30 am and 11 am when refreshments will be served.
