The 2018 season will start a little earlier for Beverley as they have just received some good news from the RFL. They will be the Yorkshire Mens Leagues only entry in the first round draw of the Rugby League Challenge Cup.

Ties will be contested on the weekend of the 27th and 28th January. The entry may well evoke memories of Beverley’s run to the last 16 of competition almost 23 years ago. They were eventually knocked out by Batley at the Boulevard in front of over 3000 spectators.

A second piece of good news came with two representative selections. Jack Howdle has been included in the open age squad for Yorkshire versus Lancashire and Luke Shaw has been selected for Yorkshire under 19s who will also face Lancashire.

Beverley are still awaiting the most important news of them all, that being their National Conference League application. Their entry has been recommended by the NCL committee alongside West Riding outfit Queensbury.

The entry now requires rubber stamping which will require the other 46 NCL clubs to vote on the matter. All being well Beverley will take their place in NCL Division 3 alongside the following clubs: Barrow Island, Blackbrook, Clock Face, Dewsbury Celtic, Eastmoor Dragons, Gateshead Storm, Oldham St Annes, Queensbury, Stanley Rangers, Waterhead Warriors and Woolston Rovers. They will also enter an ‘A’ team in the Yorkshire Mens League in either Division 5 or the Alliance League.

A vey busy close season is anticipated for club officials at Beverley ARLFC. preparing for 2018. The NCL may well require the club to have either temporary or permanent perimeter fencing around their pitch at the .

With the pitch located close by to the Potting Shed which will act as a clubhouse providing the after match hospitality and refreshments.

The club’s AGM is scheduled for Monday December 11th and any potential re-structuring should be announced after that meeting.
