Police On The Hunt For Purse Dippers Targeting Shoppers

are asking the public for help to identify two people they would like to speak with in connection with theft.

The images show a man and a woman who police say are purse dipping in supermarkets here in Beverley and also in Grimsby.

In a statement released they said;

“Last week we appealed to identify two people we want to speak in connection with the theft of a purse and subsequent use of the bank cards at Aldi in Immingham.”

“We would like to speak the two people shown in these images in connection with the theft of a purse and subsequent use of the bank cards.”

“A woman was shopping in Aldi on Washdyke Lane in Immingham on 29 September.  Her handbag was in the trolley containing her purse.  The purse was stolen from the bag and the bank cards used to make further purchases.”

“We now believe that the same couple have been in Beverley committing further purse thefts.”

“A number of similar incidents reported to us.  If you know either or both of the people pictured please call us on 101 quoting reference 16/44702/17.”
