Beverley’s Best For Romantic Dates!

Dating. It’s not easy, is it? The anxiety of approaching someone you like the look of, the difficulty in striking up interesting conversation and then the stress of that nervy first date – the dating game is a tricky game to navigate.

Luckily, Beverley and its neighbours are decent spots to reduce the difficulty rating a touch.

There are an abundance of places to meet someone around the town, and indeed the wider East Riding area. But these days, the one you come to love might only be a click or a swipe away.

There are a whole host of dating apps that put a whole load of fun into finding your next partner, and those searching for companionship should definitely look here for love. Then the fun starts, of course. What to wear? Where to go? What to talk about?

The area is awash with stunning restaurants and bars just aching to be booked out for the all-important first date. Find out what your date likes to eat is the first step, and then choosing a place with the correct ambiance and atmosphere. Trawling through a mountain of Tripadvisor reviews is a painstaking task that is no exact science. Never fear, as we’ve chosen a selection of places to head out for a first date.

Ogino Japanese Restaurant

Japanese dining is both classic and classy; two things that you’re bound to want to offer up on a date. Dishes are dainty but delicious, and the food tends to be one of the least spicy of all the Asian cuisines. You can appear to be worldly without being overly adventurous, if that’s not your thing! Everyone raves about the sushi and teriyaki at Ogino, so we recommend it – if only because it’ll provide an excellent talking point once you’re both in a great mood!

Whites Restaurant and Patisserie

They just get everything right here, there’s no doubt about it. Food and wine is paired impeccably, and it’s even better when you order it as part as a tasting menu. The whole experience is brilliant, starting with your warm welcome to begin, to the amuse bouche and right on until the dessert. Egged on by a bottle of wine or Prosecco (take a peek at this handy wine-choosing guide), you’ll find the nerves start to dissipate, and you’ll get stuck into what will hopefully be a great night with someone equally awesome. The restaurant brings the food, you just bring the feelings!

Pipe and Glass

Michelin Star restaurants are known as being absolutely unbeatable when it comes to quality, so when you want to pull out all the stops on a date, this is the place to go. It’s not cheap, of course, but people come again and again because you honestly cannot fault it. The level of attention to detail has received national recognition, and in the case of the Pipe and Glass, it really goes a long way. Now, don’t worry. Us Northerners can panic when it comes to pretentious places, but this isn’t like that at all. You’ll feel completely relaxed the entire time, and although there are a few fancy things on the menu, you should save room for dessert – the chocolate plate is where it’s at!

The Westwood Restaurant

With such an incredible variety of food, and each dish done exceptionally well, coming to the Westwood will leave neither you or your date disappointed. Whether it’s a special occasion with a bona fide partner, or you’re trying to show off to someone new, you can’t miss out on giving this place a try. The surroundings are beautiful, but it’s the meals that steal the show, with hearty portions that received praise in this national newspaper review. If you’re keeping it casual, why not book in for Sunday Lunch? That way, the conversation will flow naturally, but you’ll both get some of Britain’s best!

Thai Palace

Feel like spicing things up a little? Thai food from Thai Palace may well be the answer. Dishes are colourful and fragrant, with many different styles of dish to choose from. You can’t really argue with a good curry; because everyone loves them, right? Be sure to check with your date first, but once you’ve got the all-clear, he or she will simply love the place. It’s absolutely the best around, as their menu suggests – check it out

Jardelle

If you want something a little exotic, why not spring for Middle Eastern cuisine? There’s a lovely atmosphere here, especially on Saturday nights, and you will be really well looked after. They use plenty of herbs fused with spices in their meats, cheeses and special dishes, so there will be something for everyone to like. It doesn’t matter whether you’ve had this kind of food before, or you’re totally new to it, it’s a great place to bring a date.

Going out for a meal is a great dating option, no matter where you’re at in a relationship. Everyone loves their food, and it provides an amazing opportunity to talk and really get to know someone. A really well chosen restaurant can speak volumes about a person, too, and you simply can’t go wrong with any of the above. Just be sure that you’re on your best behaviour – there’s nothing worse than bad table manners! Enjoy your date.
