International Pianist, Ross Jutsum who’s played in over 500 cities worldwide is coming to the East Riding in this month.

Ross has kindly offered his services to hold two special concerts. The first to be held at Sewerby Methodist Church on Thursday 12 October featuring Bay Primary School Choir, and the second on and 14 October at the Hornsea United Reformed Church.

, East Riding Manager of Hull Children’s University said;

“I am keen to build upon our work locally. It’s been incredible to see children grow in confidence before our eyes on Children’s University experiences.”

“Children regularly tell us they’ve had the best day ever, and words such as wow and epic are a regular feature.”

“As a result of our efforts, teachers report increased levels of motivation towards learning, as we reinforce the importance of their current work in school, and help them believe they can succeed and achieve their dreams for the future.”

Ross heard about the work of local charity HEY Children’s University, and the impact it has had upon children coming from some of our most disadvantaged communities, as we strive to raise their aspirations for the future by providing a range of unique and exciting outside-the-classroom learning experiences.

These include visits into local industry to experience the world of work and careers available, learning where food comes from by visiting Densholme Care Farm in Great Hatfield; to some of our larger experiences like taking a full classes of children down to London on the train, having a Kip on a Ship aboard HMS Belfast, or becoming an astronaut for a day on a visit to the Star Centre at Keighley.

HEY Children’s University expanded into the East Riding of Yorkshire in September 2016 working with 10 schools, including 6 schools from , Hornsea, Withernsea, Easington and Welton.

Over the academic year, Hull Children’s University has taken 1,097 children from the East Riding of Yorkshire on 43 learning experiences.

These fundraising concerts have been made possible through local farmer, Denys Fell, of Densholme Community Care Farm and friend of HEY Children’s University and Ross Jutsum.

The events start at 7:30pm (doors open at 7pm for refreshments) and tickets are priced at £6 each available from Box office www.bridspa.com or call 01262 678285.

All funds raised from the evenings will go towards supporting Hull & East Yorkshire (HEY) Children’s Universities work locally.
