New weekly sessions have got under way at on Monday mornings – under fives and their families are the audience for the new sessions, usually to be held in the Orangery from 10am -11.30am, during East Riding school term times.

The new ‘Sewerby Squirrels’ sessions feature activities based on seasonal events, Edwardian life, and exhibits on display at the venue.

The second session will be on Monday 25th, with sea-themed play, a quiet corner, and books to read, plus the featured sea-themed craft – making a jellyfish to take home

The following Mondays will include going on a welly walk (2 October); and kneading bread dough (9 October).

The sessions will be included in normal admission prices for Sewerby Hall and Gardens whilst they apply.

There will be a nominal charge for the sessions during the winter season (with one accompanying adult admitted free with each child):

Under 3s still free (as per the normal admission pricing)
3-4s £2 (with one adult free per child)
Free entry for annual pass holders.

Visitors will need to pay at the Welcome Centre when it gets to the winter season (as with all other charged activities).

Under Fives Learning Co-ordinator Lucy Rose said : “We were delighted that we had around 35 children at our first Sewerby Squirrels session, plus accompanying adults, and quite a few of them said they were planning to come every week from now on!
