A depleted suffered a defeat as they got their new Humber Premier League Campaign of to a losing start.

Despite missing 13 players Town were able to form a decent squad for the season opener and almost got something out of the game.

Commenting on the result, gaffer Rich Jagger said;

“I thought the lads that came in today did a great job for us, we had a lot of players missing, however we dominated the game.”

“We had 16 shots to Hedon’s 2, however we have to learn to kill a game off when on top.”

“It was a really poor goal to concede, but credit to Hedon they kept at it and pinched the win in the end.”

Town started with the wind behind their backs, and were straight away on the front foot against a youthful Hedon Rangers.

Shaun Day and linked up well together down the left flank, the later creating some good opportunities with some great attacking play.

Town continued to dominate play, with , George Southgate and Hysenaj all firing shots on goal , however every attempt seem to be blocked by a resolute Hedon defence.

On 33 minutes Town had a good penalty claim turned down, when Day and Hysenaj exchanged neat passes in the Hedon box, Day appeared to be tripped however the ref waved play on.

Hedon created a couple of half chances from crosses, however Town continued to dominate, with Adam Gibson going close and also Ben Thomson with a curling effort just before half time.

In the second half Muirhead went close with a long range effort, and Hysenaj continued to cause problems for the Hedon defence.

Town raised the tempo in an attempt to get back in the game. came on for the industrious Gibson, injecting pace and movement to the town front line.

It was Stark who went closest to scoring on 80 minutes, a great cross from Hysenaj was met by Stark at the front post, whose side foot effort from inside the 6 yard box crept agonisingly wide.

Muirhead once again peppered the keeper from a close range free kick, but it was going to be one of those days as the keeper saved well again.

In the dying minutes of the game Town skipper Ben Thomson received a straight red card for a strong challenge on the Hedon midfielder .
