Now firmly established, the regular food fair returns to Beverley’s fast-growing retail and leisure destination on Sunday, August 13, promising some of the best produce the region has to offer.
Organised by Yorkshire Food Markets, the foodie roadshow comes to Flemingate every second Sunday of the month, hosting a wide variety of locally grown and produced food and drinks, ranging from artisan bakes; sweet treats; fruit-infused gin; gourmet dog biscuits; oysters and prosecco; and local cheeses.
Regular stallholder Steve Frankish, one of three directors of family-run Colemans Cider Company, from Kilham, near Driffield, said: “We’ve been to every Flemingate food event since it launched in April and we’re beginning to see an increase in regular customers coming back to enjoy more of our locally-produced cider each month.
“The stallholders work together to promote each other’s produce and it’s a really great atmosphere – which makes it a good experience for the customer. Our customers then tell their family and friends about us, so it’s good for Beverley and the wider community.”
Another local producer, Rory Stone, owner of gourmet pop-up kitchen Spotted Cow, is attending the next Fresh food event for the first time. He said: “We’re really looking forward to the event and we think it’s a great opportunity to celebrate local produce and culinary culture. The team at Spotted Cow are looking forward to providing some delicious dishes from our pop-up kitchen.”
Graham Tait, Flemingate Centre Manager, said: “We’re really pleased that people are enjoying our monthly food event. It’s another opportunity for people to support local producers and complements Beverley’s existing Wednesday and Saturday markets.”
Andrew Riley, co-organiser of Yorkshire Food Markets, said: “We are delighted with how it’s gone so far in Beverley, one of East Yorkshire’s most beautiful and historic towns.
“Customers can browse, taste and buy savoury pies, artisan baking, cakes, fresh meats, seafood, local ciders, hot and cold street food and much more.
“There could also be some more unusual products for sale on the day, so there is something for everyone!”
The food event takes place on the second Sunday of every month, with the next one on Sunday, August 13, from 10am to 4pm.
