George McManus Says MP Graham Stuart is in ‘Denial’ Over NHS Sell Off

Members of in Beverley say MP Graham Stuart is in denial over the governments intentions to sell off the NHS to their friends.

Their comments come after they released statement in response to plans to sell part of the NHS which Labour say will benefit private sector at tax payers expense.

Beverley Labour’s George McManus said;

“It’s daylight robbery and an absolute scandal that whilst MPs are on holiday and unable to answer questions, the government is proceeding with the wholesale disposal of national assets for the sake of private profit.”

“Our MP must respond to our demands that this be stopped immediately and a full inquiry held into the proposed sell off.”

“We have argued all along and Graham has denied, that this government is intent on privatisation of our Health service in order to boost private profits for their business friends.”

But multi millionaire Health Secretary is planning to sell it to the Staffline Agency for £50m. The sale would considerably boost profits for shareholders at taxpayers expense.

Campaigners have expressed fury over the government minister’s plans to sell off a major part of the NHS during the summer holidays when MPs are on holiday, saying any sell off will produce massive profits for private agencies.

With the NHS is facing a staffing crisis and uses private agencies as well as the NHS owned NHS Professionals, to plug the gaps.

It’s calculated that NHS Professionals provides nursing staff at up to 30% less than private agencies saving the taxpayer up to £70m a year.

Mr. McManus added;

“NHS Professionals is a valuable public resource which should not be flogged off to the highest bidder.This is a scandal which should be halted now and we call upon our local MP to intervene before any more sell offs take place.”

While the Conservatives insist spending in the NHS has never been so high, in real terms spending has been reduced by 0.6pc per  by 2018.

Locally the NHS are having to close certain units in the region as they look to make the savings need to continue to offer a level health care in Bevelrey and Holderness.

PM Theresa May has already refused to rule out US Firms taking over NHS Services as Labour and the SNP accused the PM of using the NHS as bargaining chip for a trade deal.
