Cycling Takes Over Beverley For Annual Circuit Race

Beverley again welcomed cyclists into the town for the British Cycling Circuit Race that saw some big names in cycling weave through the streets of Beverley.

The night was also gave riders from to put their skills to the test on their home turf in the Keith Jordan Memorial Circuit Race.

The ladies race was also staged again this year.

Victoria Hood, Manager of Team Jadan has just won two National Masters Track Championships, commenting on the race in Beverley she said;

“Team Jadan established the first Yorkshire Women’s Road Race Series four years ago and at the same time took part in the , there had never been a women’s race, it was men only in Beverley.”

“Now we are the UK’s only full development team which sees girls coming up from youth level right through to senior ranks, giving all the opportunities to develop their skills and most of original youth riders now represent the country and ride for Great Britain, on the Olympic pathway.”

“Road racing is such a hard sport and you have to be at a really good level before you can consider competing. Up until a few years ago, beginners had to join the elite racers, there were no other categories to enter which meant that many women dropped out as the completion was too tough.”

“For my first road race, I hadn’t even got my feet clipped into the pedals and the whole field were gone. I did keep going though and it’s thanks to funding from our sponsors that we are able to support our girls.”

“Support from Pam Wainman and our other sponsors, Weldtite and Vive le Velo, gives us funding  to take the girls away to races and a supportive environment to help them thrive.”
