Bridlington Welcomes Back The Poplar UK Windsurfing Championships

The return of the hugely-popular UKWA National Windsurfing Championships, supported by East Yorkshire (EY) Events, is on its way to Bridlington on Saturday, 1 and Sunday, 2 July.

Bridlington has played host to this top-class sporting event for over 20 years.

During the weekend, hundreds of spectators are expected to line the Promenade of the North Beach to watch the action-packed races along the spectacular Bridlington coastline.

Racing will be held for four individual fleets. Sailors aged 12-17 will race on the techno board and sailors aged 17+ will race on the RS:X board, this being the Olympic class that Nick Dempsey sailed to a silver medal on in 2012.

“Visiting Bridlington is always a highlight in the UKWA racing calendar. As well as offering our competitors brilliant windsurfing conditions on the water, the clean beaches and overnight parking supported by the council make this event a must.
