continues the defence of his UK National Championship title in the Super Pro ET class this weekend at the FIA/FIM Main Event at Santa Pod Raceway in Northamptonshire.

Chris, 44 who lives in Beverley, with his wife and team crew-chief Rebecca, won the 2016 UK National Championship title in just his second season driving in the sport, at the final round of the championship last September.

Chris will be competing this weekend in the same championship winning, Windscreen Wizards/Lucas Oil dragster for Nick Good Motorsport.

Crew-chief Rebecca Parker is thrilled with the team’s success so far, she said;

“Whilst I always knew that we had the potential to do well, we never expected to win the UK National Championship in only our second year racing.”

“We knew that defending the championship would be even harder this year and the competition is indeed fierce.”

“With 40 teams entered in our class this weekend there are a lot of points available but first we must be sure of qualifying because 8 of those teams won’t make it through to race day.”

“The Windscreen Wizards/Lucas Oil Dragster is as consistent as ever and this gives us the opportunity to concentrate on the other variables like weather and track conditions which are so important in drag racing.”

The dragster, which is powered by a methanol burning 9.98 litre Chevrolet engine, makes over 1000 horsepower and can reach speeds in excess of 175 mph in just 7.5 seconds from a standing start.

With entries at this weekend’s Main Event coming from across the UK and Europe, Super Pro ET is the largest and most competitive class in UK sportsman drag racing.

Chris will not be the only racer from Hull and the East Riding competing at Santa Pod Raceway this weekend as the area is becoming a centre of excellence in drag racing.

Alex Hope from Halsham is also a 2016 champion, but on 2 wheels. The reigning ACU National Pro Stock Bike Champion will begin his FIM European Championship campaign at The Main Event.
