Hull and amateur actors with disabilities will take to the stage alongside professional performers for a daring performance in Hull Marina which will see movement, music, clowning and voices collide.

Casting on Humber: HERE is a collaboration between The Sobriety Project and Castaway Goole Accessible Music Theatre, directed by Sarah Louise Davies, founder of Hull theatre company Park Bench.

Described by Sarah as “our most daring and adventurous project yet”, the project is one of 60 funded by ’s Creative Communities Programme, delivered in partnership with the Big Lottery Fund.

The cast, which includes 15 members of Castaway Goole, are currently rehearsing on board the Humber keel barge Sobriety, ahead of performances on Hull Marina at the end of this month. The group will be joined by additional professional performers, Hull 2017 volunteers and members of community groups, who are participating in workshops in Hull and Goole.

Castaway Music Theatre member Anna said: “We know what we’re doing. But we don’t know what will happen.”

There will be a series of shows, both on the barge and beside it, on Hull Marina on May 30, June 1 and June 3.

Created by the group’s 15 actors for performances on the barge and on shore, HERE will go on evolving right through three lively days of performances and pop ups.

Cast member Richard said:

“Come and see us because this is something different. You are going to be amazed. This is something out of the ordinary.”

, Director of Hull 2017, added:

“The Creative Communities Programme champions projects that are adventurous and unique but most importantly connect communities to create incredible experiences and iconic memories. This project brings together two social inclusion charities to transform a historic vessel into a pop-up creative space in one of the city’s most well-known landmarks, Hull Marina.”

The show lasts about 40 minutes and will be performed at 11.00, 13.00 and 15.00 (with audio description) on each of the three days. For more information, visit www.hull2017.co.uk/whatson/events/casting-on-humber/
