Gareth Richardson says that the generosity of people in and local golfing community is remarkable.

Mr. Richardson was speaking ahead of a special fund raising golf day that will take place this weekend at Beverley & East Riding Golf Club.

On Sunday over 40 teams will take part in an event that will be raising money for his friend who sadly passed away. He had cancer.

Speaking to HU17.net Mr. Richardson, who nick named Paul Inzy after the Pakistani cricketer Inzamam Ul Haq said;

“This event was originally in aid of but after we lost Inzy we decided to use it to help support his wife, Kirsty and their young family.”

“I have known Inzy for years, we played cricket together and when he took up golf we were partners playing together here at Beverley.”

“In all we have 45 teams taking part, people thought I was mad saying 30 was enough though such has been the demand for people to support the event and the family we gone well over that number.”

“What has really struck me is the sheer generosity of the local business and golfing community. Not only do we have some amazing prizes for the event winners there have been some remarkable donations for our prize draw.”

The list of donations is long, with tickets being sold for just £5 per strip, picking out some of the prizes Mr. Richardson said;

“There are tickets from to attend a concert while local retailer Murry Todd have given us a £50 gift voucher and local golf club have showed their support by donating Four Ball Vouchers.”

“Also such was the demand to sponsor a hole we ended up with 25 – so we are going hold mini competitions within the event such as closest to the pin.”

Contestants on the day will be delighted to hear that there will be a ‘Half Way House’ at the 8th green. Kristy Fleming and Joanne Richardson will handing out refreshments and nice cold bottle of beer to the players.

Mr. Richardson added;

“I really want to thank everyone who has helped make this event happen and of course all the businesses and golf clubs for their support.”

“If all goes to plan we are hoping to raise £5,000 for Kirsty and her children.”
