Claire Frear From Beverley Is Raising Some Dough For Deaf Children

Claire Frear from Beverley is putting on a Big Cake Bake to raise money and awareness for the National Deaf Children’s Society during Deaf Awareness Week (15 – 21 May).

Claire’s Big Cake Bake will be taking place at Ava Hair, a hair and beauty salon on Maple Drive in Beverley on Saturday 20 May.

Reflecting on the upcoming Big Cake Bake and why she is doing it, Claire said;

“My main drive is for my daughter, Grace, who was born profoundly deaf. She now has cochlear implants and thrives in a normal school setting.”

“From week two of her diagnosis I’ve known about the National Deaf Children’s Society through our local authority helping us through the difficult and early stages and feel whole heartedly that the Big Cake Bake and money raised will go towards helping other families in the same situation we faced, and raise awareness for the cause too.”

Claire will be joining hundreds of other amateur bakers from up and down the country in cooking up a storm and selling cakes to their friends, family and colleagues.

As well as raising money for the National Deaf Children’s Society, Claire will also be spreading the word about childhood deafness, and highlighting the support available to the 45,000 deaf children in the UK.
