Graham Stuart MP has said he is delighted by the announcement that Hornsea is to receive £3.77 million from the Department for Communities and Local Government’s Coastal Communities Fund to renovate Hornsea seafront.

The money will fund a large part of a £4.6 million project to rejuvenate South Promenade, including the expansion of the leisure boat compound, upgrades to car parking and a new all year round café, retail space and visitor hub.

Linked to this announcement, there is further funding for the East Riding with an additional £1.1 million allocated towards building a new visitor centre at Spurn Point, creating natural habitats near Kilnsea Wetlands and improving access and catering facilities up the coast at Flamborough Head.

Graham said,

“This is excellent news for Hornsea and represents major Government investment in the East Riding coast. At the end of English Tourism Week, this is a real boost for the whole town and should encourage visitors to come and visit, enjoy the Promenade and take in the stunning views out over the sea.

“I want to congratulate everybody involved in putting the successful bid together, including East Riding of Yorkshire Council. They have done a terrific job and I can’t wait to see the final result.”
