Bridlington’s Popular Park and Ride Returns From This Sunday

Bridlington’s popular Park and Ride service reopens for business on Saturday, 8 April, all the way through until the beginning of November.

Park and Ride offers a frequent service, with buses every 15- 30 minutes from South Cliff caravan park to the harbour. Costing only £4 per vehicle (up to five passengers), Park and Ride represents excellent value for money, and buses run until 6.15pm each day.

The bus will also run to East Riding Leisure Bridlington in the heart of the seafront most weekends and, during the six-week school summer holidays, the service will be extended until 8pm each evening and will also serve East Riding Leisure Bridlington every day, as well as the harbour area.

The extended service follows a request from local businesses at the Bridlington Business Forum for a summer extension, and also the continuation of the service as far as East Riding Leisure Bridlington, to serve the northern side of the town. The two changes were trialled very successfully last summer, and proved so popular that the 2017 Park and Ride timetable will be extended again. The extended service is at no additional cost to customers.

In 2016, 49,614 vehicles paid to use Park and Ride, which was an increase of 667 vehicles on the previous year.

Councillor Stephen Parnaby OBE, leader of the council, said:

“Bridlington Park and Ride is a real asset to the resort, keeping nearly 50,000 vehicles off the town centre’s roads.

“It’s particularly pleasing that we will again be able to extend Park and Ride this summer into the early evening and to East Riding Leisure Bridlington, which will boost the town’s economy by encouraging visitors to stay that little bit longer, and maybe enjoy a meal in the town before heading home. Here’s to another bumper year in the town!”

Here is the full list of prices for Park and Ride 2017 :

£4 for all day parking and transport for up to five people on either the bus or land train
£1.50 single ticket on the bus (if not parked)
£2.50 return ticket on the bus (if not parked)
£1.00 single ticket for concessionary pass holders (if not parked)
£1.50 return ticket for concessionary pass holders (if not parked).

There is secure parking for up to 1000 vehicles, including motor homes, and the car park, which boasts public toilets and covered waiting areas, is monitored by CCTV. The low-floor buses are all easy access, and offer an environmentally friendly and easy way into the town.

For an even more scenic route, passengers can choose to travel on the South Promenade land train, and this cost is included in the £4 Park and Ride fare. The land trains run to Bridlington Spa.
