, MP for Beverley and Holderness, will visit Sand le Mere Holiday Village near on Friday to officially open the park for the new holiday season. His visit comes as part of English Tourism Week.

He will be shown round by General Manager Amby Tatla to see how the park has spent almost £1 million in the past year to improve infrastructure and add new caravan pitches to increase capacity.

The investment takes total spending at Sand le Mere to almost £10 million in the past five years, with a new leisure complex, indoor swimming pool and bar and restaurant among the developments.

Graham will also view Sand le Mere’s new defibrillator, purchased by the park in February in support his ongoing HEART campaign to promote community access to defibrillators.

Speaking ahead of his visit, Graham said,

“Tourism is vital to the East Riding economy and we have some of the most beautiful coast and countryside in the UK. Sand le Mere Holiday Village is a great tourist destination here in Holderness and I’m delighted to support English Tourism Week by visiting to see the new facilities and launch the 2017 season.

“It’s also great to see the Holiday Village has invested in a defibrillator in response to my HEART campaign. This is something that every community should have and know how to use as one day it could save somebody’s life. Sand le Mere is now a model of best practice when it comes to cardiac risk.”

Mr Tatla said: “Graham convinced us of the importance of having defibrillators in public spaces on a previous visit, and so we were delighted to purchase our own in February.

“Thousands of guests stay at Sand le Mere every year. We want to do everything we can to ensure their health and safety and a defibrillator can literally be the difference between life and death for someone who has had a cardiac arrest.

“12 members of our team have now completed training sessions on how to use the defibrillator correctly. We would urge more local businesses to take the same steps.”
