Straight from the kick off the Beverley Braves were under pressure from the much bigger Skirlaugh Bulls outfit.

The Beverley Braves coming off the back of a disappointing performance defended well for the first couple of sets and took it to the Bulls with the ball in hand. Skirlaugh’s size advantage eventually paid off after a Braves error and they crossed for the opening score.

Continuing to play their expansive rugby, the Braves made some great runs from William Wilson, Sam Bayes, Daniel Stevens and William Page.

Despite this the Braves failed to convert good field position in the first half and more errors in defense cost them as the Bulls crossed for three more tries.

In the second half saw the Braves increase their defensive intensity with outstanding tackling from Jacob Parkinson, Daniel Smith, Joseph Dobson and man of the match William Page. Oscar Thomas made the tackle of the match, chasing back to prevent what looked to be a certain try.

More errors resulted in Skirlaugh crossing twice more before the Braves had their best spell of the game. Braves pressure resulted in a rare Skirlaugh error followed by quick hands from George Young, Jacob Parkinson and to put William Wilson in a try in the corner.

This was a significant improvement on the Braves opening league game performance and shows the potential of this group of players.

Final Score : Beverley Braves U12s 4 Skirlaugh Bull U12s 40
