Students at Beverley High School took pat in International Pi day as they hosted a range of activities and also saw mathematics reach all lessons.

Pi Day is an annual celebration of the mathematical constant π (pi). Pi Day is observed on March 14 (3/14 in the month/day date format) since 3, 1, and 4 are the first three significant digits of π.

Caroline Brooke, Head of Mathematics at Beverley High School said;

“A class of year 7 girls organised the lunchtime activities and wrote a letter to , who kindly sponsored us by providing the apple pies for the pie eating competition and squirty cream for the pie face game.”

We had the whole school involved, including, bunting to decorate the maths dept which gave Pi to 251 decimal places while teachers from all subjects putting aside 5 minutes of each of their lessons to cover an aspect of pi.”

“A variety of fun activities at lunchtime including a themed bake sale, a pi(e) eating competition and teachers playing the pi(e) face game with the students raising over £80 on the day.”
