Beverley Town Football Club Veterans threw away two points as they dropped points for the first time this season at home to Drum.

Gaffer Steven Harvey said his side lacked the ‘cutting edge’ up front though despite that felt his side should have won the match and maintained their 100pc record.

Goals for Town came from Allan Laud inside 10 minutes who scored with a thunderous shot that found the top corner. Drum’s Tom Leech scored to ensure the visitors went in level at the break.

In the second period Gavin Northern again put Town ahead and on course for all three points though Drum again got back on level terms through Jim Carew.

Commenting after the match Harvey reflecting on the result told .net;

“This was a really scrappy game, we never raised the tempo allowing them to slow the game and dictate the pace. Our usual strikers missing through suspension or injury so we missed that cutting edge up front.”

“I felt we also lowered ourselves to their style, we still should have won the match but we threw the lead away twice.”

“I guess you just can’t always get it your way, we looked sluggish. We are still unbeaten this season, first points dropped. It was just one of those days today.”

Town remain top of division 2 in the with a four point advantage and game in hand over their closest title rivals Malt Shovel.

Next up for Harvey and his side is a trip to Blackburn Leisure B, a team Town smashed 12 past earlier in the season as they look to close in on the championship.

With just four games left in the season Town look odds on to not only securing promotion but also winning the title.

Final Score: Beverley Town Veterans 2 Drum 2
