Events In March To Accompany The Wildlife Photographer Of The Year Exhibition

This month will see more family events to accompany the hugely popular Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition at the Treasure House in Beverley running until 22 April, one of the key East Riding events in , in which is a Principal Partner.

On Saturday 11 March, the Treasure House will host ‘Crazy Cardboard Critters’ from 10am until 3pm.

The event will be a chance to make crazy creatures inspired by the stunning images in the exhibition, with Johnny White, an automata maker with a big sense of humour. This event is free, and there is no need to book in advance. It is aimed at children aged five and over, accompanied by an adult.

On Saturday 18 March, the Treasure House will see ‘Snug as a Bug : Making Homes for Wildlife’, from 1pm to 3pm. Inspired by the exhibition, this event will be a chance to give a helping hand to wildlife and make a bug hotel to take home. This event is free, and there is no need to book in advance. It is aimed at adults and children of all ages.

On Saturday 25 March, the ‘Crazy Cranky Creatures Workshop’ will take place at The Treasure House, in two sessions, from 10am -12.30pm and from 1pm to 3.30pm. Amazing artist and automata maker Johnny White will help visitors to construct their own surprisingly wild wildlife, using simple mechanisms like cranks and cams.

Education officer Sarah Hammond said :

“The Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition has proved hugely popular so far, and so was the first of our complementary events. I am very much hoping that lots of families will want to come along and see the exhibition and try their hand at these exciting activities at the same time.”

The Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition is free and is in the Treasure House until 22 April, and features 100 awe-inspiring images, from fascinating animal behaviour to breathtaking wild landscapes.

It is the most prestigious event of its kind, which has provided a global platform showcasing the natural world’s most astonishing and challenging sights for over 50 years.

Tickets for this event (aimed at children aged eight and over) are £5 per child, and both workshops cover the same activity. Tickets are available online at .eastriding.gov.uk/beverley
