has been named a Northern Champion in the Countryside Alliance Awards wining a place at the national finals that will held at the House of Lords.

Dubbed the rural Oscars judges praised organisers for their energy and the quality of the event that pulled in over 30,000 people last October.

A signature event in the towns calendar the was named as the Northern Champion in the Enterprise category.

Charlotte Cooper who judged the competition said;

 “The energy behind is inspiring. The main festival attracts 30,000 people to , boosting and the economy.”

“The festival is underpinned by a total commitment to local produce and producers, and this has really put Beverley on the map as a “foodie” hub. The festival ties in with allotments and markets, as well as a weekly market in the town.”

“There are also strong links with supportive local businesses, with a smaller festival in the run up to which draws in 10,000.”

“There was nothing like this before the team created the festival and it is an excellent example of local people coming together to promote their local area and produce, and creating something that is much more than the sum of its parts.”

Over 7,500 members of the public placed voted in this year’s competition. Representatives from the event will now travel to London to find out if they have won the national title.
