Police Appeal With Regard To Mobility Scooter Theft in

are appealing to the public following the theft of a mobility scooter form outside a property on Morton Lane in Beverley.

In a statement released, a spokesperson for the police said while the scooter has been recovered they are keen to track down a man seen riding on it.

They said;                                                        

“We are appealing for information after a motorised mobility scooter was stolen from outside an address off Morton Lane, Beverley.”

“The 96-year-old owner left the grey 4×4 Mini Crosser securely at around 3.45pm on Wednesday, January 25. However, when he came to use the scooter at 8.15am the following day he discovered it had been stolen.”

“The scooter has since been recovered but has been damaged.

“We have received reports that a man was seen riding the scooter in Beckside, Beverley, at around 10.25am on Thursday, January 26.”

“He is described as being around 40-years-old, of medium build and clean shaven. He was wearing blue denim jeans, a grey hooded top and a black or navy blue jacket.”

PC Lee Daniel added;

“In this incident an opportunist thief saw the scooter and took it for a ride, leaving a vulnerable elderly man distressed and with no mode of transport. The victim now has a new mobility scooter, but we are keen to find who is responsible for this theft and bring them to justice.”
