Stuck for ideas for a Valentine’s Day date? The Potting Shed in Beverley has shedloads of romantic treats lined up for lovers.

The gastro pub in has a special PS I Love You menu to celebrate the day and, in keeping with its gardening theme, loved-up diners will be invited to enjoy little sheds, large sheds … and even a spot of pruning!

But there’s no green fingers needed because it’s all about three courses of delicious starters, mains and puddings, allowing couples to eat to their heart’s content.

They can even help along the mood with a bottle of wine and a rose on each table or cocktails such as ‘Love Actually’ in the private garden sheds.

Small sheds include a dipping plate to share – because relationships are all about give and take! – handmade Mediterranean spring rolls and a salad of in-house cured Yorkshire bacon, while large sheds offer a choice of falafel kebab, marinated chicken skewer, Turkish pizza or chorizo burger.

And, because love is never on a diet, for pruning (that’s desserts) there’s a tempting trio of treacle tart, stem ginger parkin or rhubarb and custard.

Isaac Mayne, head of marketing and promotions for the Burning Night Group which opened Beverley’s Potting Shed in August last year, says there’ll definitely be romance on the menu for customers this February.

“We want couples to forget about cooking, and who’s doing the washing up, and just enjoy a relaxed evening with us,” he said. “We’ve created a menu which we think has something for everyone and there’ll be a great atmosphere as always. It’s our first Valentine’s Day here so we hope to make it a really special one.”
