With Beverley Under 14s Yorkshire Plate Final match against Ripon postponed, they accepted an invitation for a training match against Hullensians, probably one of the best teams in Yorkshire.

With the game split in three segments, both teams started with arguably their strongest 15 players, unlike in previous seasons the match was a very close contest showing the huge improvements the Beverley have made over the past season.

Harrison Petrie was extremely strong tackling and carried the ball very well, Ben Wilkinson continued his outstanding form leading the team exceptionally well.

Both teams tried to gain the advantage good territory kicking from Eden Quantock ensured that the team where constantly pinned back in their own half, good tackling from Ben Walker, Josh Dillon and also ensured the home team where prevented from making ground.

When the Hull dangerous backs tried to make ground the Beverley back line including the devastating Sam Acaster and prevented Hull from making ground.

Beverley held firm until the final few minutes of the first sector when the Hullensians winger managed to score with a well taken try.

In the next two segments of play the home team continued to throw everything at Beverley, Hullensians did managed to score 4 tries, but in reality the score line didn’t quite reflect the competiveness of the matches, the Beverley set piece play was very strong and held firm.

Although a final score of Hullensians 31 Beverley 0, this was clearly an improved result for Beverley than what they have encountered over the previous few seasons.

Parents Player of the week went to the outstanding Ben Wilkinson and Coaches for the ever improving Sam Acaster.
