Under 14s warmed up to next weeks Yorkshire Plate Final with a nervy performance against a strong Doncaster team.

Doncaster started very well and attacked Beverley from the kick off and what followed was a very one sided half of rugby, Beverley never seemed to get out of the blocks from the kick off and allowed Doncaster to score a number of tries leaving the first half score at 33-0 to the visitors.

The second half was a significantly better performance, the forwards started to develop better passages of play carried the ball well and strongly, excellent tackling by Ben Wilkinson also started to ensure that Doncaster failed to make ground as they had done in the first half.

Eden Quantock started to control the game with some long kicks which sent the Doncaster team back, Sam Acaster was exceptional in the back line with good line speed and making strong tackles.

Doncaster sealed the victory late on with a well taken converted try leaving the final scoreline at 40-0 and credit to Doncaster who were hungry played some good rugby and deserved the win.

Beverley will improve ahead of next weeks final against Ripon and will be returning to a full strength squad for the first time in a few weeks following the Yorkshire Trials, Injuries and illness.

Coaches player of the week went to Sam Acaster who’s defence was strong throughout the match and showed excellent attitude and determination throughout.

The Final will be played at Barnsley RUFC 12.00 noon kick off with the Players and Supporters coaches leaving the club at 9.15am.
