Dirty Hero Will Sort The Men From The Boys And The Women From The Girls!

Would you rush into a burning building to save a stranger? Would you willingly lay down your life for your battalion on the battlefield or jump into a river to save someone from drowning?

Hopefully you’ll never have to find out. But now you can unleash your inner hero, in a brand new exciting, but grueling obstacle course race coming to North Yorkshire in 2017!

Whether you choose a ten or five-mile course, Dirty Hero will sort the men from the boys and the women from the girls! Climb, crawl, jump and run through a whole host of daunting obstacles, whilst helping others who need a hand along the way. You’ll need to be brave and conquer heights, fire, small spaces and freezing water – this is not an event for the fainthearted. So are you heroic enough?

Organiser Peter Mathieson, who also hosts various triathlons in Yorkshire, wondered who has the potential to be a Dirty Hero. “It might be someone who is regularly admired for outstanding achievements or courage,” he said. “But a Dirty Hero can also be someone who is just going about their usual business and needs a special chance to shine. Maybe he or she is fit already, maybe not – but if they can complete a Dirty Hero challenge, their body and mind are capable of an awful lot and they will be a real champion.”

Dirty Heroes, working in teams or as individuals, need to conquer their inner demons as well as confront physical challenges as they battle through 30+ obstacles. Facing fears including ‘Flaming Hell’, ‘Cliffhanger’ and ‘Waterfall’. Will YOU dare find out if you have the stamina and mindset to be ‘fed through a mangle’, deal with a ‘Loose Cannon’ or take on the ‘Leap of Faith’

There’ll be two Dirty Hero events, both in beautiful countryside near the North Yorkshire Moors, with the first on May 20th at Newburgh Priory in Coxwold, 15 miles from York. The second challenge takes place on July 22nd at the Duncombe Park Estate at Helmsley, about 24 miles from York.

You can take part as an individual or in teams of four or more. The earlier the entry and the bigger the team, the bigger the discount. Paul Mathieson, Peter’s brother and Dirty Hero co-founder, said anyone who does the challenge for charity will receive help with promotion. “Those people are heroes before they even set foot on the course” he said. “We will gladly shout loudly about their efforts to raise money for a good cause.”
