There are still a few tickets remaining for the ultimate feel-good start to 2017 – Manchester Camerata make a welcome return to Bridlington Spa.

Enjoy a glittering waltz around Vienna with dancers from East Riding Youth Dance County Company on Sunday 8 January, 2017, at 2pm, as the first concert in the ‘Classically Yours’ series.

The concert launches ‘Classically Yours ‘ – as part of the East Riding’s celebration of , East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Orchestras Live have joined forces to bring more orchestral music to the area.

Thanks to a grant from Arts Council England, and investment from the council – which is a Principal Partner in Hull UK City of Culture 2017 – and Orchestras Live, Classically Yours will see some of the UK’s top orchestras, including Manchester Camerata, Sinfonia Viva and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, coming to the area.

Classically Yours will consist of a number of orchestral concerts taking place in Beverley, Bridlington, Pocklington and Withernsea throughout 2017, alongside community work, culminating in a concert with all orchestras joining together at Bridlington Spa.

Supremely talented soprano, Ailish Tynan, will bring the heady romance and humour of this beautiful music to life. She’ll be joined by conductor, Jean-Claude Picard, and Camerata’s Principal Cello, Hannah Roberts. Vaughan Williams’ sublime The Lark Ascending adds a slightly English twist to proceedings, performed by Camerata’s exceptional Leader, Adi Brett.

Highlights will include operetta classics by Lehár and Strauss Junior, with the famous Blue Danube Waltz. A light-hearted and stylish event, a ticket for this event this may make an ideal gift for friends and family this Christmas.

Councillor Richard Burton, portfolio holder for civic wellbeing and culture, said : “What a great start to 2017 this will be! Our first major East Riding event in the programme for Hull UK City of Culture 2017 promises to be a memorable afternoon of superb music in the wonderful surroundings of Bridlington Spa.”
