Beverley RUFC under 14s narrowly lost out 10-7 to Scunthorpe in the final game before the break.

Beverley gave the opportunity for match time for Jasper Law, Harry Hesleton, Tom Haylock and Aaron Wearing, plus a debut from as they looked to impress the coaches, all the players performed well and show that this team has strength in depth moving into the second half of the season.

An exciting game played end to end, both teams squandered opportunities but defended well, the first try came from a Nathan Cullen breakthrough who outpaced the Scunthorpe defence and scored under the posts, converted by Tom Barnard.

Soon after though the Scunthorpe winger managed to score in the corner.

The second half was very tight, both teams enjoyed good possession, but with five minutes to go, a penalty 5 meters from the Beverley line allowed Scunthorpe to force their way over for the winning try.

Manager Phil Crockett said;

“Although a little disappointed with the result, this half of the season has been very satisfying, having secured a place in the Yorkshire Plate Final there is a lot to look forward to in the New Year.”

“The team continually improves week on week and there is a great feeling around the squad, and will now enjoy a well deserved break.”

Parents Player of the week went to Harrison Petrie who has impressed in his first season and Coaches Player to Jasper Ghio.
