NHS Hull Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is celebrating after a double victory at two prestigious awards last night.

At the Yorkshire and Humber NHS Regional Recognition Awards, which were held in Sheffield, the CCG’s Chief Officer, Emma Latimer, and Chief Finance Officer, Emma Sayner, won a joint award in the Leading Systems Transformation and were runners-up in the Inspirational Leadership category.

Emma Latimer’s role as leader for the Humber Coast and Vale Sustainability and Transformation Plan (STP) is supported by Emma Sayner as STP Finance Director. Their successful mix of leadership styles has helped to build their strong reputations as system leaders. The STP brings together 20 organisations including CCGs, local authorities and providers serving an estimated 1.4 million .

Local leaders have come together under Emma Latimer to develop a comprehensive STP programme to improve health and wellbeing in some of the most deprived wards in the UK. Emma Sayner has successfully used her skills, drive and motivation to bring together financial leads across the STP to reach agreement around the financial challenge and programme of work.

In a strongly contested category, the judges commented that both nominees showed a real commitment to creating system wide solutions.

Meanwhile in London, the CCG’s Finance team were victorious when they were named Accounts Team of the Year in the national Healthcare Financial Management (HFMA) awards.

The HFMA awards celebrate achievement in health care financial management, recognising that finance has a major role in transforming the NHS. Hull CCG has achieved the highest (1A) NHS England North category for financial assurance, and three years of unqualified annual accounts and has used innovative ways to explain how NHS finance operates in Hull.

Dr Dan Roper, the chair of Hull CCG, commented:

“We are absolutely delighted. These awards reflect the hard work, passion and innovation which we try to nurture at the core of Hull CCG. I would like to congratulate Emma Latimer, Emma Sayner and our Finance Team on their successes.”
