Under Starters Orders For Beverley Races 2017

Beverley officials have pledged to bring vibrancy and colour to Yorkshire racing as advance tickets for the eagerly-awaited 2017 campaign go on sale on Monday (October 31).

Racegoers will have happy memories of a spectacular season at the popular East Yorkshire venue, which this summer attracted strong attendances and numerous star horses that have gone on to great things.

Now chief executive wants to add to Beverley’s considerable gains by making the 2017 season bigger, brighter and even more cost effective.

She said: “The 2016 campaign was hugely successful for so many reasons, but we are determined not to rest on our laurels.

“It might be the close season, but the hard work is already under way as we prepare a vibrant and colourful programme that will cater for racegoers of all ages and from all walks of life.

“We love to think we do things a little differently on the , with a warm welcome guaranteed at one of the most idiosyncratic racecourses in the country.

“We are optimistic this will be reflected by encouraging sales when tickets are released on Monday.”

There is a huge incentive for Beverley racegoers to pre-book for next year as entrance will be significantly cheaper if purchased in advance. Tickets for the Grandstand & Paddock Enclosure will cost just £12 if ordered in advance – cheaper, even, than in 2015.

And for a third consecutive year, Beverley has announced a price freeze for pre-booked entry into the Premier Enclosure, with tickets generally available at just £20.

Entry into the Course Enclosure, meanwhile, will cost only £4 when pre-booked, with tickets a third more in price if bought on the day.

Iggulden said: “We are proud of our pricing structure that will be in place for next season, with lots of great deals on offer if tickets are booked in advance, either online or by phone.

“This is part of an ongoing promise to try to give everyone the chance to enjoy what our beautiful racecourse has to offer.”

The 2017 Beverley social calendar revolves, as always, around the legendary Ladies’ Day on Wednesday, August 16, but there is now greater depth to the season than ever before.

Racegoers can, for instance, look forward to three themed evening meetings, as well as the hugely popular May Bank Holiday Monday fixture on May 1.

But Beverley’s commitment to being a family-first venue is evidenced by the development of numerous child-friendly activities for when the kids are off school, with the circus-themed Roll Up, Roll Up Raceday on Tuesday, August 1 a guaranteed crowd-pleaser.

Next season will also see a noteworthy switch to the racing programme as the Hilary Needler Trophy and the Brian Yeardley Continental Two-Year-Old Trophy – two jewels in the Beverley crown – will, for one year only, be staged on Wednesday, May 31 as part of ‘Young Guns Day’.

The racing season reaches a rousing crescendo on Saturday, September 2 with the totepool Beverley Bullet, an internationally-renowned sprint that features the very best in the business.

Iggulden said: “The days are drawing in, but thoughts of long summer days on the Westwood will be keeping us warm throughout the winter.

“With something for everyone next year, now feels like a great time for racegoers to book their tickets in advance to be part of something special.”
