Local Choir Mark Six Year Anniversary With Special Concert

Leconfield Community Choir have celebrated their 6th birthday by staging  a concert in the village hall.

Over 100 guests came to the charity event which has become an annual tradition with a different charity chosen every year.

Sam Hollis, from Leconfield Community Choir said;

“This year £800 was raised for Leconfield  Pre-School. The main entertainment of the evening was provided by the choir with a range of songs from their repertoire including Bridge Over Troubled Water, Rhythm of Life and Teddy Bears’ Picnic.”

“The singing filled the hall and at one stage the audience were also asked to join in and sing before being allowed their pea and pie supper!

“Also entertaining the audience was local Elvis impersonator, Tony Taylor as well as the choir’s own ‘Break Away Band’ playing an eclectic mix of songs from Queen to Monty Python.”

“The evening was thoroughly enjoyed by all and the bar, raffle tickets & donations all contributed to the final total for the evening.”

Now the choir are now preparing their Christmas repertoire for carol singing, and it won’t be long before they are preparing for next year’s charity birthday concert.

Sam added;

“We are always looking for new members so if you have a love of singing, a desire to raise money for charity and a sense of FUN please do contact Musical Director, Fiona Ives on 07984 657071 for more information about this ’no audition necessary’ choir.”
