Beavers U14s Put In A Convincing Display As They Beat Grimsby

under 14s made a convincing return to winning ways with a 58 – 15 win at home to a spirited Grimsby team.

Beverley started well and set up good ball for the backs to attack, it wouldn’t be long before grabbed his first try of the afternoon, converted by , Soon afterwards, Harrison Petrie scored his first try of the afternoon, converted by Barnard.

A slight lack of concentration allowed Grimsby into the game and they scored their first try of the afternoon, before Cullen grabbed his second, another Beverley try came when following good forward play and slick hands in the back line allowed Harry Gunn to go over.

Straight from the kick off of the second half the Grimsby team hit back and scored a good try, the Beverley team woke up and Petrie soon scored a further two tries, before Barnard eluded most of the Grimsby defence to score in the corner.

With the forwards looking to be involved in the try scoring Oliver Lazenby powerfully carried the ball over the line for a try and then probably the best try of the afternoon when Jasper Ghio’s strong and pacey run from halfway managed to brush off a number of defenders to score his first try for the club which was duly Converted by Alex Nuttall.

Beverley’s final try when again slick ball handling lead to a perfectly timed pass from Cullen to Nuttall to dive over a score his try.

A late Grimsby consolation try, brought the game to a conclusion. Over this was a good sound and clinical victory setting the team up well for the coming matches.
