Staff from have raised hundreds of pounds for charity selling home made cakes at the Beverley Food Festival.

Four tables overflowing with the home bakes that the Society’s staff had produced were sold to raise as much as possible for the Society’s Charity Partner Action Duchenne.

Thanks to the efforts of staff and members of the public digging deep, all the cakes were snapped up giving the Society’s fund raising efforts a real boost.

Lesley Wegg who is Head of Operations at the Society, and a trustee for the Action Duchenne charity, commented on the day:

“It was brilliant to see so many people attend the Beverley Food Festival. It was a tremendous success, thanks to the team at the Society for baking some amazing cakes and giving up their time and the generosity of the public.”

“We raised £650 which takes our fund raising at Beverley Building Society to over £20,000 this year.”

“Action Duchenne invests in global pioneering research to find a treatment for Duchenne, the most severe form of Muscular Dystrophy.”

“This cause is very close to my heart as sadly my Son Ashley (9) has this condition.”

Beverley Building Society is celebrating its 150th Anniversary, supporting Action Duchenne throughout the year with a variety of fundraising initiatives.

Graham Carter, Head of Lending at the Society praised event organisers saying;

“We have supported the Food Festival for a number of years now and see it as key community event in the calendar, it seems to get bigger every year and Beverley Town Council do a great job organising such a successful day.”
