East Yorkshire golfers have rallied round to support a major renovation scheme currently being undertaken by .

Golfers are looking to raise cash to help renovate the iconic Anti Mill that is attached to the main clubhouse on the Westwood course.

Mark Humphreys, Chairman of the House Comittee explained how they plan on raising funds, he said;

“The golf club has organised a special competition for Friday, September 23 – and golfers throughout the area have been quick to offer their support.”

“The competition, a four ball better ball am am offering some fantastic prizes, has so far attracted a total of 32 teams of four, and organisers are hopeful of reaching at least 36 teams by the competition date.”

“Entry is £100 a team, including a two-course meal after your round, and anyone wishing to take part should contact either the Club Professional or Secretary on 01482 868757.”

Renovation work on the Anti Mill will begin in early October when contractors are due to repair the roof.

It is hoped that work on the main building will start early next year, including sealing and painting the main frame of the mill.

Non-golfing visitors to the Westwood will doubtless be more familiar with the Black Mill, which is similar in shape and size to the Anti Mill.

Golf Club was founded in 1889 and is the oldest inland course in Yorkshire.
