We Struggled With Our Application - Rich Jagger

Beverley Town Football Club were on the wrong end of beating as they went down 5-1 in their pre season friendly against York Premier League Champions Old Malton.

Manager Rich Jagger while disappointed still feels his side gained a lot from the experience as they continue their build to the new campaign.

Speaking about the game Jagger told .net;

“It was a disappointing performance against a team we knew would be strong. We struggled with our application today for a number of reasons, in particular individual preparation before the game.”

“However in the second half we kept going, and like I said to the lads, we will learn a lot from that game today.”

Town got off to the worst possible start and following a slow start were a goal behind inside five minutes as they began was to be a gruelling afternoon for them.

Lacking any energy and unable to cope with the Malton’s formation Town went into the break three goals behind and with a mountain to climb in the second period.

Jagger turned to his bench introducing Nathan White who made a difference as they put in a much better second half performance.

Despite their improvements Malton added a further two goals before Town managed to get something out of the match as White scored from 30 yards out.

While they may have been beaten Town have not been have been taking on a quite challenging pre season schedule with this fixture being a big ask from the off.

Beverley Town return to action this weekend as they host Riccall United in the 2PM kick off at as they continue their preparation for the new season.

Town will get their 2016 / 2017 Humber Premier League Campaign underway on 20 August with an away day against .
