Town Come From Behind Twice To Draw With Walkington

needed to dig deep as they had to come from behind twice to earn a draw away to local rivals Walkington.

In a goalless first half the sides shared six goals between them at as Walkington gave the Humber Premier League side a good run for their money.

Second half goals from Walkington’s Jason Crisp, Adam Bowes and their Romanian talisman Michu showed that will again be force in the new season.

Commenting on the game said;

“This was a good game. It was a great work out against a good Walkington side. It was also good to come back from 2-0 down then 3-2 down and showed we have good character.”

“Most importantly it was more game time under the belt for a lot of players.”

“We have a tough game on Saturday against York league champions Old Malton which will help our preparations for start of season.”

Ahead of the match Town’s manager Jagger had warned the dangers Walkington posed down the flanks and it was from these areas the home team created most of their chances.

Town went behind after they conceded a soft penalty and were soon two behind after delivered a pin point cross that was dispatched easily.

After getting back on level terms Town again found themselves fall behind but salvaged the draw when Alex Start saw his shot deflected into the Walkington net.

Commenting on the game Walkington’s winger Thompson said;

“I thought we did well, we was unlucky not to win the game in the end two own goals cost us the win.”

“Overall was very good. Our gaffer was happy with us, we matched them all over the park it was a good battle.”
